Adolescent care

As children become teenagers and young adults, they have special concerns and care needs. At Novant Health Meadowlark Pediatrics, we understand that adolescents are not simply big kids and deserve care tailored just for them. We make every effort to treat our young adult patients with respect, monitoring their growth and development, and answering their questions.

Just as with our younger patients, we offer adolescent patients well-patient care, sick-patient care and all routine vaccinations including the influenza and HPV vaccines.

We encourage and appreciate caregiver involvement in a young adult's medical care. However, there might be a time during an appointment that a parent or caregiver will be asked to step out of the room to give the patient a bit of privacy. This is so your child can get the answers and advice they are seeking without feeling embarrassed. By having your young adult seen by a familiar provider in a friendly office, he will likely be more comfortable asking questions and addressing concerns than if he were to see an unfamiliar provider in an office not catering to adolescents.
